Your first day at BT: I definitely felt nervous on my first day. I think nerves is natural when you are starting something new and unknown. It sounds cheesy but as soon as I met my manager in reception on my first day my nerves disappeared, you quickly realise that everyone is just normal, which put me at ease straight away. There are a handful of people I met on my very first day at BT who I still go to for a chat and are still there to give me advice even one year on!
Your first year at BT: This first year has gone so quickly, I’ve learnt so much about the business and definitely grown in confidence. I’ve been able to get involved with a lot of stuff outside of my normal day job, like volunteering. There’s so much more to learn as things are constantly changing, but this makes working at BT even more exciting!
How I got here: After I graduated I actually went to work as a Call Centre Advisor in BT Consumer, I always knew I wanted to do HR but this was a great experience to understand how BT works, and working in a directly customer facing role has really helped me on the programme and always think about the customer first. I left BT Consumer after a year as I got a job as a HR Assistant at Ben Sherman and later a HR Assistant job at Pandora, I eventually found my way back to BT on the HR Graduate Programme.
