BT wins top award and industry recognition for cloud innovation

Cloud management

A cloud management platform that helps BT develop some of its most innovative products and services has won an excellence award.

Judges in the TM Forum Excellence Awards voted the company’s Compute Management System (CMS) tops in the open digital ecosystem category.

CMS makes it easy for BT customers to tailor a cloud system to their needs. It has rapidly become a market leader in cloud offerings, and BT is using it widely in its own products.

Groundbreaking work

The TM Forum awards recognise global communications leaders and their groundbreaking contributions to the IT industry.

John Gillam, general manager for BT Compute in BT Global Services said:

“The TM Forum awards are supreme in terms of rigorous independent judging by our peers, and to win one is recognised as a real achievement.

He added: “They generate genuine industry respect. Our award was presented by Pascal Viginier, group chief information officerof France Telecom-Orange.”

John also said that CMS is an astounding success story for BT that has electrified the industry.

Speed of development

“It’s a pioneering vision that has evolved between BT Global Services and BT Technology Service & Operations (TSO) and been realised in just five years – lightning speed, in development terms.

John Wittgreffe, chief researcher in research and innovation, in BT TSO added:

“The award positions us firmly as an innovator in the open digital economy.”
