2017/18 highlights – How we’re addressing global challenges

The world is changing.
We believe technology can play a leading role in
meeting global challenges and creating opportunities.

Climate change and resource scarcity

Targets

We’ve launched a new 1.5°C science-based target to help avoid the worst effects of climate change: we aim to reduce our carbon emissions intensity by 87% by 2030 (from 2016/17 levels).

Suppliers

We’ve also agreed a target to reduce supplier carbon emissions by 29% (from 2016/17 levels). We’ve built a requirement to reduce emissions into our contract with Huawei, one of our strategic suppliers.

Customers

Our products and services helped customers save 11.3m tonnes of CO2e emissions this year, more than double our own emissions.
