BT is responsible for generating £1 in every £80 produced in the UK, according to an independent report published today. The report shows that BT spent £6.5 billion with UK suppliers during the 2014/15 financial year and gave an £18 billion boost to the country’s economy. More.

Alstom Transport, one of the world’s leading providers of transport systems and solutions, has selected BT to consolidate and optimise its global network infrastructure. Through this contract, BT will support the operations of Alstom Transport in more than 300 locations across 59 countries. More.

BT has won a public tender and entered into a new five-year agreement with Caixa Econômica Federal, one of the largest financial institutions in Latin America, to connect its data centres to its lottery outlets across Brazil. More.

Launches

The BT Labs at Adastral Park near Ipswich, Suffolk, has celebrated 40 years at the forefront of telecoms innovation, commemorating the opening of the company’s global R&D headquarters in November 1975 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. More.

BT has launched a faster, more reliable and more secure access to cloud services by allowing BT IP VPN customers to connect directly to HPE Helion Managed Cloud Services. BT’s service uses HPE’s Rapid Connect capability to bypass the public internet when connecting to HPE Helion Managed Cloud Services. More.

BT has teamed up with Volante Technologies, a leading provider of financial data integration and processing software, to offer convenient access to Volante’s full suite of tools and applications via the BT Radianz Cloud, the world’s largest secure networked financial service community. More.

Openreach has revealed the unrelenting growth in demand for data over its UK fibre network as it published its first ever Openreach Fibre Index. The index - which will be updated seasonally - shows that data usage across the company’s five million active fibre connections is increasing at 40 per cent year on year. More.
